Ok, how many of you can say you've raced at one of the top five road tracks in North America? Well, now I can. This was Superbike weekend at Road America, where track speeds reach 180 mph. Just the sound of those powerful engines speeding by is enough to make one's palms sweat before a race. If you haven't been there it's a 4 mile loop with long fast down hills, all with turns at the bottom and three steep up hills. The conditions where perfect for racing for this the first running of the Road America 13 and 20K race. Maybe about 90 folks came out and Adams Inline showed Team Rainbo that maybe the hill work at Sears needs to be a bit more intense - Adams took the top three spots. Near fear, as the photos will show, there was no lack for Rainbo members on the podium.

I'll forego the usual banter with the photos this time and just let you enjoy or relive the pain. Frank Baleski took the racing shots from near the finish line at the top of the steepest of the hills. Do notice that there are way more smiles after the race then before. Surveying the course beforehand, to the sounds and sights of motorcycles swooping by at over 150 mph, we could see only up hills and death-defying descents. Needless to say we all survived. Notably within the Rainbo family, Laura and Bill raced for the first time ever. Wow! What a way to break in.

Late addition photos from George and Susan. Thank you both.

Oh boy, here it is, the up hill finish. Think you can see the line? You can't it's over the top. Photo: George Quinn

Now, to demonstrate the pain factor, here I am toping the hill the first time. Looking rather fresh. Photo: Susan Grace
